With their stunning views of Snowdonia the gardens at Pen y Clip are stunning. From the sweeping lawns to the exotic flower beds and trees, a haven of peace.

The Pen y Clip Gardens

Garden panorama

The garden at Pen y Clip was designed by renowned gardener Martin Puddle who like his father and grandfather before him was head gardener at the world famous Bodnant Gardens. It was designed as secluded haven for the reclusive owner of the house, Gaynor Cemlyn Jones. Miss Cemlyn Jones was a generous benefactor to many local causes and set up the Pen y Clip Trust to fund extensive research work in the Marine Sciences Dept. in Bangor University, in fact their teaching laboratory (which is overlooked by the garden) bears her name to this day.

Facing due South, the garden supports a widely varied plant collection, its flower fringed lawns and fragrant paths contrast with Eucalyptus and Palms that with the mountain views give the garden almost a Mediteranean feel.

Beautifully relaxing for strolling, the garden has numerous viewpoints; wooden benches, the magnificent octagonal summer house and most spectacularly from the brand new sun deck which along with its loungers has possibly the most spectacular hot-tub view in Wales!
